Confirmation:

Congratulations to all our Rang 7 pupils who made their Confirmation yesterday (Thursday).  A word of praise for their impeccable behaviour due in no small part to their parents’ upbringing.  Well done.

A work of special thanks also to our staff who worked with the children preparing them and to St. Patrick’s Chapel.

Sean-Nós na Fearsaide:   As part of Sean-Nós na Fearsaide, the school will be taking part in a choir competition in Áras Mhic Reachtain on Thursday 29th February.  A few of the school children will be taking part in the individual singing competiton on Saturday 2nd March.    We wish them all the best of luck.

Healthy Break:  Sorry for lack of clarity … so sorry if you thought we asked you to send your little darlings into school half of a chocolate stand for break.

Swimming:  There will be no swimming this week.

Reccy:  Rang 3 / 4 and Rang 5 / 6 /7 will continue to go to the Reccy on Thursday mornings for some multi-sports sessions

Invite to City Hall – unveiling of statues of Mary Ann McCracken and Winifred Carney.

Some of the children have been invited to the unveiling of two new statues in the grounds of the City Hall.

One of the statues is of Mary Ann McCracken, from whom the school took its name and who helped form the Belfast Charitable movement which was dedicated to working with the poor of the city;  she was also the sister of Henry Joy McCracken, a founder of the United Irishmen.

The other statue is of Winifred Carney, a suffragist and a trade unionist who worked on behalf of women working in the factories of Belfast.

Further details to follow.

Seachtain na Gaeilge – Sciath Aodáin Mhic Phoilín:    As part of the events taking place during Seachtain na Gaeilge, some of the children from Rang 7 will be taking part in a Tráth na gCeist (quiz) on Friday 8th March 2024.  Further details to follow.
